Himalayan Regenerative Fashion Living Lab
Guided by the universal value of harmony among all living beings and Creation, the Himalayan Regenerative Fashion Living Lab project stems from the shared vision of His Majesty King Charles III and Brunello Cucinelli. Its purpose is to offer tangible support to small local communities in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, India, helping them develop value chains rooted in the principles of sustainability and regeneration—respectful of nature, people, and their unique needs.
A One-of-a-Kind Place
In this ancient and rugged corner of the world, beneath the immutable and majestic Himalayan peaks, nature reveals itself in its fragile grandeur—defined by delicate balances and indispensable synergies. On one side, a wild, rugged environment; on the other, the peaceful coexistence of humans, animals, and plants, as a sign of protection for the delicate and precious gifts Mother Earth offers with each passing season.
Born from the collaboration between the Sustainable Markets Initiative, founded by King Charles III, the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance, and our company, the initiative began in 2022 with the implementation of the first activities in synergy with the semi-nomadic Changpa people, who have lived in the mountainous areas of Ladakh for centuries.
The local community is supported in integrating regenerative techniques for both agriculture and livestock farming, as well as in the creation of structures to improve water resource management—essential for the well-being of people, animals, and the environment. Training programs focused on capacity-building and pasture management complete the project’s agenda, with the aim of providing concrete support to the Changpa people in preserving and enhancing traditional craftsmanship linked to the breeding of Changra goats, yaks, and other animals. The traditional weaving of cashmere and other fine natural fibers is, in fact, at the heart of the economic and social life of this community, which has lived in harmony with its surrounding environment since time immemorial.
“In the intangible purity and ethereal softness of this exquisite fibre lies the legacy of a unique land and its proud and wise people, who have nurtured it for centuries.
This legacy is both fragile and extraordinary, a priceless heritage that we fully recognise as something to be protected and cherished for future generations.
The extensive journey of transforming this fibre represents for us the values of regeneration and resilience that we are proud to support through this Project of great Humanity”.
Brunello Cucinelli
“I cherish with joy and emotion the memory of meeting the people and places of Ladakh, in the Himalayas. Hearing and learning firsthand about the lives of these families, marked by extraordinary humanity and kindness, was a true privilege. Just as on the first day we embraced this important commitment, today we remain deeply honoured to contribute to such a noble cause.
We will continue to dedicate ourselves to this project to the fullest of our abilities, guided by the principle of Human Sustainability that inspires us as a company and as individuals”.

Introducing Himalayan Cashmere
Today, we are proud to present the first fruits of this fruitful collaboration with the Changpa people and all those involved in the initiative: two models of Himalayan Cashmere scarves, ultra-light and timeless in style, crafted in Italy in a limited number of pieces.
As symbols of the values of regeneration, inclusivity, and respect that lie at the heart of the project, the scarves are showcased within the spaces of Casa Cucinelli in Milan, Rome, Paris, London, New York, and Hong Kong—symbolically connecting the Himalayan region of Ladakh with Solomeo and the rest of the world.
